Our Story
Tim grew up in a church-going family and accepted that Jesus was the only way of salvation before he could remember. He has been an active member of the church ever since.

Cindy accepted Christ as her personal Savior at the age of seven. She began to attend church regularly where Cindy grew in her relationship with Christ. Early in childhood she felt a strong desire to serve the Lord on the Mission field. She began to pray for other countries and people. She read missionary biographies, watched the news so she knew how to pray, and "dreamed" of one day being a missionary herself.

Family
Tim and Cindy met through mutual friends in 1997. They were married May 15, 1999. They were told by doctors that they could not have any children so it was by the Lord's miracle that Laura arrived in 2002 and Tanner arrived in 2004.

Professional Training and Experience
Tim received a Bachelor of Architecture and a Bachelor of Science in Forest Products in 1995. He worked for Giffin Bolte Jurgens from 1996 until joining eMi in 2008. Tim was licensed as an Architect in the State of Oregon in 1999.

Cindy was licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Oregon in 1998. She worked primarily as a Pediatric Home-health nurse and triage nurse at a Pediatric clinic in the States. In Costa Rica she is the nurse for Hogar de Vida, a local orphanage and travels every few months to a remote indigenous village to hold a health clinic.

Ministry Experience
Tim served in his local church teaching Sunday School, singing in the Worship Team, serving on the Church Board and leading a small group ministering to men recovering from sexual addiction. He made several "Work and Witness" trips around the world to build church facilities before joining eMi.

Cindy served in her local church by helping in the nursery, co-leading a small group and leading a women's group. Her first overseas missions trip was to Albania where she went with a team who shared the gospel through drama. She later returned to Albania to serve at an orphanage. She was involved with a YWAM team as well and went on village trips to distribute Bibles and share about Christ.

In 2000, Tim and Cindy planned to return together to Albania to serve for a year when Cindy was diagnosed with a life threatening blood disorder. God redirected them to Central America and Cindy was able to go on a medical mission trip to Costa Rica in 2003. Having lived in the SW United States as a child, Tim has always felt a connection to Latin America. God used these varying influences to lead both of them to join the Central America office of eMi.

Verses to Live By
Tim's calling is to fulfill 3 John 6b, "You will do well to send them on their way in a manner worthy of God." God used this verse to say Tim's Architecture training is to be used in service to other missionaries so they can be free to fulfill the calling God has given them.

Cindy's favorite verses are: Proverbs 3:5
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths."

Jeremiah 29:11-13
"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart." NKJ
