Project Scope
Tizate is a small Guatemalan village of approximately 200 families about ten miles from Antigua. The families of Tizate live in poverty, cannot afford the public schools and have inadequate housing.

In 2005 God led Global Shore to reach the people of Tizate with the love of Christ with a full time presence. They purchased property, on which a small unfinished house was located. This home was remodeled into an office, classrooms, a kitchen/bakery and a meeting place for Global Shore's student volunteers that build homes for locals during short term mission trips. That same year Global Shore contacted EMI to design Phase 2 of the project. The result was the construction of a two story building that contains an apartments and multi-use spaces that are used as classrooms, a community center, and a church to meet the community needs.

Over the last four years God has been transforming the mission of Global Shore Guatemala; to raise up disciples of Christ by providing the best quality Christ centered education possible. Specifically, Global Shore has been led to run a full Christian education program, consisting of: Kindergarten/Primaria (Grades 1-6), Basicos (Grades 7-9), and Carrera (Grades 10-12) for the preparation for higher education or specific career training.

In December of 2006 the process of looking for land to build a new school began and after several months the Lord provided 1.5 acres of land on the mountain above Tizate. Today, the existing school facilities are at capacity with no further room for expansion and Global Shore’s goal is to have the new facilities ready for the 2011 year.

Global Shore has requested EMI's services to complete the design and construction documents for the new school and site. The existing property has no public utilities including water, sewer, electric and telephone.
