The Experience

The EMI América Latina office is unique among the other EMI field offices in two main aspects. First, the Terms 1 and 3 interns spend two weeks in language school learning Spanish. Then all interns spend their time in Costa Rica living with a host family. These two opportunities usually leave interns feeling like they have not only learned the culture of Costa Rica, but they have experienced it in a very personal way.

During your internship, you’ll have the opportunity to build a professional skill set that not many of your peers will have the chance to develop. You will work with a team of architects and engineers, learning more about your discipline and the other disciplines in the building industry from licensed professionals. All the while, you will be experiencing first-hand the challenges of design and development in the developing world.
